National Yoga Month

acac celebrates... National Yoga Month

Join acac as we celebrate the many benefits of yoga! Our expert team has put together eight special events to motivate and educate the community on the many health benefits of yoga. No yoga experience necessary. All events are open to members and non-members. Some events require pre-registration...see below for details.


YOGA POWER HAPPY HOUR
Date: Friday, September 3rd from 5:30 - 6:45pm
Level: Intermediate - Advanced
Fee: Free
Registration: No registration required. Guests welcome.
Location: Poolside (outside on the cement patio near the WaterPark weather permitting)
Refreshments: Join us for wine and cheese after class.
Instructor: Andrea Cox
Description: A dynamic 75 minute flow class. Students practice a challenging vinyasa flow sequence. If you want to take your practice to the next level, this class is a must.


ALL ABOUT THE BACK INTRO CLASS
Date: Wednesday, September 8th from 5:00 - 6:00pm
Level: All
Fee: Free
Registration: No registration required. Guests welcome.
Location: Studio D
Refreshments: Join us for wine and cheese in the Serpentine Room, compliments of The Spa at acac. The Spa team looks forward to answering your questions on reflexology and massage. They'll also demonstrate reflexology and massage techniques.
Instructor: Adriana Correa
Description: A one hour yoga class designed to help students stretch and strengthen their spine. The class emphasizes working at your own level and exploring variations for all poses. The main focus is on restoring the spine to a healthy state.


FAMILY YOGA AND ICE CREAM SOCIAL
Date: Friday, September 10th from 6:00 - 8:00pm
Level: Beginner
Fee: Members must bring a non-member guest to attend or pay $10. Guests are free.

Location: Basketball Court
Refreshments: Join your friends at a make your own sundae social after class.
Instructors: Christine Scott and Colleen DeVirgilis
Description: A jungle themed event that provides a fun setting for a family yoga practice. The whole family relaxes and restores with adult and kid friendly yoga poses.


STATIONARY INTENSIVE YOGA
Date: Sunday, September 12th from 2:00 - 3:30pm
Level: ALL
Fee: Members must bring a non-member guest to attend or pay $10. Guests are free.
Registration: Register with Adriana Correa at 610.431.7000.
Perk: The first 30 registrants will receive a complimentary acac yoga mat. One per customer.
Location: Studio C
Instructor: Janice Trevisani
Description: A set series of poses that will lead you to improved freedom of movement, and over all function of the body as a whole. Focus on correct alignment of the poses, in combination with proper breathing techniques. We will also discuss modifications for areas of limited movement; as well as ways to alleviate stress on and off the yoga mat.


SUNRISE YOGA
Date: Wednesday, September 15th from 5:30 - 6:30am
Level: Intermediate - Advanced
Fee: Free
Registration: No registration required. Guests welcome.
Location: Poolside (outside on the cement patio near the WaterPark weather permitting)
Refreshments: Join us for coffee and fruit after class.
Instructor: Colleen DeVirgilis
Description: Start the morning outside in the fresh air with this hatha-style yoga class combining a series of dynamic, flowing postures with deep rhythmic breathing for an overall body-mind workout designed to release tension, build strength and increase endurance and flexibility.


CHAIR YOGA
Date: Friday, September 17th from 2:00 - 3:00pm
Level: Beginner
Fee: Free
Registration: No registration required. Guests welcome.
Location: Studio B
Instructor: Donna Dufoe
Description: In this gentle chair yoga class, we will face the challenges life has given us. Yoga is far more than a physical activity; it is a philosophy of holistic wellness which leads to profound personal and spiritual growth. Come as you are in comfortable clothing to learn more about yourself and how to incorporate what you learn in class into your daily life.


GAMELON MEDITATION WITH JAY GULLO
Date: Saturday, September 18th from 1:00 - 2:00pm
Level: All
Fee: Members must bring a non-member guest to attend or pay $10. Guests are free.

Instructor: Jay Gullo
Refreshments: Join us for vegetarian hors devours in the Serpentine Room after class.
Description: We are excited to welcome back... Jay! A meditation teacher for over 30 years, Jay will have you experiencing inner peace through the hypnotic sound of the gamelan. Jay will also be available for 20 minute clairvoyant readings following the Gamelon Meditation - by appointment only. Jay has been a metaphysical consultant for over 30 years with clients all over the Delaware Valley. Make your reading appointment with Adriana when you register for the class.


CHAKRA BALANCING/OPENING WORKSHOP WITH CHERYL BUMP
Date: Friday, September 24th from 6:00 - 8:00pm
Level: All
Fee: Members must bring a non-member guest to attend or pay $10. Guests are free.

Instructor: Cheryl Bump
Refreshments: Join us for hors devours after class.
Description: A fun, all-levels workshop created to emphasize the opening and balancing of our chakras - the body's energy centers. In a safe environment, students may explore and delve into their subtle energy body. Students use yoga poses and breath work to reach new heights of self-awareness and true relaxation.
