Losing it with Your Co-Workers - 12 Week Weight Loss Challenge

October 1 - December 31, 2009

ACAC Fitness and Wellness Center wants all of Chester County to be healthy and feel great. We invite you to join our 12 week "Losing it with Your Co-workers!" Weight Loss Challenge.

  • All "Co-workers" participating in the challenge will receive nutritional information from acac's Registered Dietitian.
  • To help get you motivated, participants will also receive a complimentary acac membership the first four weeks of the challenge.

Session Descriptions

Session One: Getting Started!

  • All registered teams must attend the first session to record their starting weight. Initial body measurements will be provided, including weight, percent body fat, body mass index and hydration level.
  • ACAC will distribute and discuss keeping a food and exercise journal, which can be an integral part of your weight loss.
  • Basic weight loss principle; calories in vs. calories out, and important components of nutrition and physical activity that will affect your weight loss during the entire challenge.

Session Two: Lose Yourself! Check your progress at the first official weigh-in.

  • weight loss nutrition tips specifically on good carbohydrates vs. bad carbohydrates, protein, fat, energy and power foods
  • group share - discuss initial questions on nutrition, healthy dieting and exercise

Session Three: Scale Down Now! Check your progress at the second weigh-in.

Session Four: Be a Happy Loser! Check your progress at the third weigh-in.

Session Five: Weigh to Go! Check your progress at the fourth weigh-in.

  • how stress affects weight loss progression and how to be mindful when you are eating!

Session Six: Maintain your Gains! Check your progress at the fifth weigh-in.

  • how to maintain your weight loss
  • group share - discuss your accomplishments and challenges

Final Session: Celebration Time!

  • All registered teams must attend this final session to record their final weight. Post-challenge body measurements will be provided.
  • During this session, all teams are invited to celebrate their accomplishments.

Registration Guidelines

  • Registration will begin September 14th and end September 30th.
  • Teams must consist of three individuals from the same company; at least one team member must be a non-acac member.
  • Co-workers need to come into acac as a team to register and obtain club key tags for non-members.
  • Team members will be responsible for signing and weighing in at each session.
  • Every participant must attend five of the six weigh-in sessions. If you miss a session, you may make an appointment with Sarah Gooding via email at sarahgo@acacwc.com for a make-up weigh-in.
  • The first and last sessions are mandatory in order to collect individual and team weight loss results. If a team member does not weigh-in at the first and last session, their weight loss percentage will not count.

Rules and Guidelines

  • Every participant will need to sign a medical waiver to participate. Waivers will be provided prior to first session and all participants are expected to bring the waiver to the first weigh-in.
  • Weight loss will be recorded by percentage of participant and team percentage of weight loss. Each individual will be confidentially weighed. Each week the amount (pounds) of weight loss for each person will be added to determine a group weight loss percentage.
  • Body mass index, percent body fat, and hydration level will be recorded at each weigh in by ACAC. These results are for personal information only and will not be included in overall or team results.
  • Team member's weight and percent weight loss will be recorded at each weigh in by ACAC. Only ACAC will have access to any team member’s personal information during this challenge. ACAC will be responsible for all data collection.
  • If a participant's BMI drops below 19, their weight loss amount does not count toward the team.
  • ACAC will provide cumulative results upon challenge completion. This will include all participating teams with team member names in a ranked order and the team's total percent weight loss. The cumulative percent weight loss of the top three team's results will be announced.
  • Team Members will be updated via e-mail throughout the Challenge.

Registration Fees and Prizes

  • Participants will pay $30.00 to participate in the challenge. These registration fees will be collected for the First Place Team grand prize to divide amongst the team. (If a hundred people participate, the prize will be $3000.)
  • Registration Fee is due in cash or check at registration. Make checks payable to ACAC.
  • The team who loses the greatest percentage of weight during the challenge will receive the GRAND PRIZE CASH POT! The second highest scoring team will receive three $100 ACAC Gift Cards!

All sessions will be offered on Tuesdays from 11:30am - 12:30pm and on Wednesdays from 5:30 - 6:30pm.

October 20th at 11:30am or 21st at 5:30pm - Session Two: Lose Yourself!
November 3rd at 11:30am or 4th at 5:30pm - Session Three: Scale Down Now!
November 17th at 11:30am or 18th at 5:30pm - Session Four: Be a Happy Loser!
December 1st at 11:30am or 2nd at 5:30pm - Session Five: Weigh to Go!
December 15th at 11:30am or 16th at 5:30pm - Session Six: Maintain your Gains!
December 29th at 11:30am or 30th at 5:30pm - Final Session: Celebration Time!
